While in Paros, you can visit dozens of beautiful, sandy beaches and impressive historical monuments, while there is a lot of variety in the ways that visitors can enjoy themselves. The island has a distinct Cycladic element, with wonderful architecture, making the walks around its picturesque villages and streets an unforgettable experience.

Sights in Paros

When visiting Paros, you have the opportunity to see many interesting historical sights. Start with a walk around Naoussa, its picturesque bay, the stone streets and its old windmills. It is also worth visiting the Venetian castle and the Historical Museum,
as well as the Mycenaean citadel, in Kolympithres, just a few kilometers outside Naoussa.

Parikia, the island's capital, is an ideal destination for exploring. Visit the church of Panagia Ekatondapilianis, where you can admire the architecture and the religious decoration. If you are a fan of archaeology, we recommend to see Dilion, the ancient temples, the ruins of Asklipios, the castle, and the ancient settlement of Kastrovounio.

It is also worthwhile to visit the valley of Butterflies in Psychapania and the marble church of Holy Trinity in Lefkes.

Paros is the ideal holiday getaway for water sports enthusiasts, especially those who enjoy windsurfing.

The meltemi, the strong Aegean summer wind, provides the perfect conditions for windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing. On Paros Beaches, visitors will find a wide selection of water sports facilities and services, such as schools, windsurfing equipment shops and water sports rental stands. Paros Beaches are easily accessible and, depending on the location, they provide a variety of conditions, satisfying all levels of windsurfers, from beginners to advanced and champion windsurfers.

The most popular Paros windsurfing beaches are those of Chryssi Akti and Nea Chryssi Akti. The long sandy beach of Chryssi Akti, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, is especially suitable for learning how to windsurf. The PWA  (Professional Windsurfers Association) World Cup, the only professional race in Greece, is held on Nea Chryssi Akti Beach in early August. There are two windsurfing clubs, where you can enquire about lessons. Near the beach there are many  restaurants, bars and cafes for your entertainment.

On the western side of the island are the beaches of Agia Irini, Krios, Livadia, Marchello and Parasporos. Along the eastern coast of Paros, you can swim at the beaches of Ambelas, Drios, Logaras, Molos, Piso Livadi and Punta.

The popular beaches of Kolymbithres, Lageri, Monastiri and Santa Maria are located on the northern side of Paros, while for quieter spots, we recommend going to the Paros beaches of Aliki and Faraggas.

Information about Naoussa

Naoussa, built on a secluded bay on the northern shores of Paros, is unquestionably one of the most picturesque bays in the Aegean. Despite the comforts that it offers to summer visitors, Naoussa remains the traditional fisherman village with the largest fishing fleet in the Cyclades. The heart of Naoussa pumps in the small, secluded bay with dozens of fishing boats. Today, the old warehouses have been transformed into bars, coffee houses, and traditional tavernas that offer ouzo and fresh seafood delicacies.

A walk at the center of Naoussa, through the narrow white streets, will reveal the beauty of this island town, which keeps its color and character by elegantly combining the past with the present. Around Naoussa you can find wonderful beaches near of further away (Piperi, Monastery, Kolympithres, Aghi Anargiri, Laggeri, Santa Maria).

Naoussa is the perfect place for those who love the night life. It offers a large variety of clubs, bars, taverns, many of which have been redesigned from earlier, traditional whitewashed houses. Most bars and clubs remain open until very late at night.
